T + J Wedding Diaries: We Are Engaged!

T and I are engaged!

Well, we have been for a while now but I haven't written much about it because we initially wanted to keep it on the down low.  But while scrolling through my old posts, I realized that this blog is a treasure trove of memories.  Reading about our past travels or culinary adventures never fail to bring a smile on my face so I've decided to do the T + J Wedding Diaries.  Let me start with the day we got engaged.

T and I were on the way to Calatagan, Batangas to attend a wedding when 'our song' played (later, T told me that this was purely coincidental and when it played, he took it as a sign).

"Sana next year, sa wedding naman natin tayo papunta," T said while motioning towards the glove compartment.

I open it and see the ring box.  I was quiet for around a minute or two and then I started to feel tears streaming down my face.

"Oh my gosh, umiiyak ako bugs! Umiiyak ako," I tell him while crying and laughing at the same time.

He smiled at me and pulled me closer to give me a hug and the tears just kept coming. I never actually thought I would cry like how girls would in proposal videos would but apparently, it just happens.  And I'm not even an emotional person.

Our engagement is big news because T and I have been together for quite a while now. We're turning 10 this year and we've reached the quota of being asked the million dollar question, "Hindi pa ba kayo magpapakasal?". But despite that, we didn't tell everyone at once.  We savored the moment when only he and I knew.  In the next few weeks, we started to tell family and friends. I love technology and social media but nothing could replace the smiles, the hugs, and the happy tears when we told people face-to-face that we were engaged.  Of course, for the ones who aren't here in the country like my sister and my close friends in the US, I sent them our photo.  But it was special just the same.

My friends were surprised it already happened because they were planning a proposal for me.  But honestly, I was glad T did his own thing, in the car, with just the two of us.  It was perfect because it was us.  T and I talk a lot in the car.  Even if we've been together the whole day, he doesn't bring me straight home.  We buy drinks from Starbucks and drive around my village to talk about the little and big things in life.

And that's the story behind my belated Facebook and Instagram announcement with the Starbucks cups.  I'm a sentimental person so we decided that everything about our  engagement and wedding should be meaningful and personal to us.

So that's it.  That's our story.  Thanks for reading! And believe me when I say, God really does make all things beautiful in its time :)

"Sana next year, sa wedding naman natin tayo papunta," T said while motioning towards the glove compartment. - Hopefully next year, it's our wedding that we are going to.

"Oh my gosh, umiiyak ako bugs! Umiiyak ako," I tell him while crying and laughing at the same time. - "Oh my gosh, I'm crying bugs (that's our term of endearment to each other)! I'm crying!"

And yes, we love Starbucks! :P
