Tajimaya Japanese Charcoal Grill in Alabang Town Center.

It's been a while since there's been a new restaurant in Alabang so it's a challenge for me and T to find somewhere new to eat when we're not in the mood to drive far away.  Fortunately, Tajimaya Japanese Charcoal Grill opened a branch in Alabang Town Center last month.

Tajimaya has an ala carte menu but T and I decide to go with the Eat All You Can Promo at PhP599 per head which already includes bottomless iced tea.

The set comes with salad, sanc yu, kimuchu, namuru, beef, pork, chicken, squid, special sausage, squid roll, shrimp, and rice.  All dishes are refillable.  You don't have to finish everything they serve but you do have to finish everything you order afterwards.

The charcoal area is really hot so it only takes a few seconds to grill meat.  It feels like my face is in a sauna too :D

T and I like really like the beef.  It's thinly sliced, soft, and you can make it crispy if you leave it cooking long enough.

T likes the special sausage and said it reminds him of the Boracay chori burger.

On the other hand, I like the squid rolls because they taste like squid balls.

I ask our server if they can peel the shrimps for us before we cook them but she informs us that they can't do that.  I wonder why.  The shabu shabu restaurant in Town Center does that for us.

T and I like the rice because it's soft and a bit on the sticky side, like Japanese rice.  We both have seconds of this.

The serving size of the dishes are big so T and I don't ask for any refills for the meats anymore.. Which is actually shocking because we have quite the appetites.   Although it's more likely that you'll be ordering refills if you're in a group of 4 or more.

Thumbs Up!
Eat all you can promo.
Comes with bottomless iced tea.
Good beef and special sausage.

Thumbs Down!
If you're used to other eat-all-you-can charcoal grill places that has a bigger spread, you might find the selection of Tajimaya a bit small.
There's an eating time limit of 1.5 hours.

Verdict
Although the meat selection isn't as extensive as the other Japanese charcoal grills, I can say that it's quality over quantity in Tajimaya.  We also didn't smell so much like I spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen and that's a major plus for me.  I hate it when my hair smells like food after leaving a restaurant.
