Jack 'n Jill Calbee's Salted Caramel and Chocolate Potato Chips.

Are you like me who likes to combine the taste of sweet and salty together?  If you are then you'll love the new offerings of Jack 'n Jill Calbee-- the limited edition Salted Caramel Potato Chips and Chocolate Potato Chips!

Restaurants in Conrad Manila's S. Maison Mall.

You might be seeing or reading about S. Maison lately and wondered what it is.  It's the newest luxury mall connected to Conrad Hotel near SM Mall of Asia.  T and I first went there because of Buffalo Wings and there were only a few stores that were operational.  But we like it because Fully Booked (for me) and Titan (for him) are right beside each other so we can spend time in our respective stores without worrying that one of us is getting bored waiting for the other.

Our latest visit was last week and I was pleasantly surprised to see more stores and restaurants open already.  If you're looking for some place new for your holiday dinner, S. Maison would be a good choice.  I'll try to round up the restaurants and cafes I saw while going around the mall although I might have missed some restaurants or cafes so this is no means an extensive list.

Strip's Limited Edition Mulled Wine Wax.

Are you going on a trip for the holidays?  Check out STRIP's limited edition Mulled Wine Wax infused with the warm and festive scent of red wine, orange, cloves, and cinnamon.  It's also good for first timers because it's packed with the healing effects of aloe vera and chamomile which significantly reduces any discomfort that is often associated with waxing.   The best part is STRIP has a promo!

Get An Oishi World of O, Wow! Bag at the Ayala Triangle.

It was only this year I discovered that Oishi is available in other Asian countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, India, and China.  And the cool part is that the roster of products are exclusive only to those countries.  But for the holidays, these snacks will be available in one Oishi World of O, Wow! Bag at the Ayala Triangle this December 17 and 18 for the Festival of Lights.  The contents may vary per bag but these are the snacks you can find inside...

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's The Giving Journal 2017.

It's that time of the year again!  Buying holiday presents, going to Christmas dinners, and collecting stamps for a planner :D  Check out The Giving Journal 2017 from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Whammo's Choco Fudge is Back!

Whammo's is back!  After being gone for more than a decade, the Filipino Twinkies is in the market again.  If you're a 90's kid like me, I'm sure this has been your baon at one point or another in school.  At least one of my classmates in Zobel had this in his or her lunch bag every day.  This snack actually fits my new obsession-- the pocket Family Computer, which was also a hit in the 90's.   It was like a time warp when boxes of Whammo's arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago.

Denny's Uptown BGC.

I have a lot of memories of Denny's.  When I was younger, my family would have breakfast there often because there was a branch near my Dad's house in California.  Denny's is also a frequent pit stop during long drives since there was always one along the freeway.  I actually had my birthday breakfast there last year with my sister in San Diego.  And finally, Denny's is now in the Philippines!

Halloween 2016: Wednesday and Pugsley Addams.

I miss blogging.

This is my journal, my outlet, my diary.  I sound like a broken record, especially during the times when I don't get to blog for long periods of time, but it is. I want to share about past trips, new restaurants, and wedding planning tips but as soon as I figure out what I want to write about, I couldn't muster enough energy to get my Macbook and work on it.  I am just so physically and mentally drained all the time.

I never thought it was possible to be busier than I was before, but I am now.  My schedule was already hectic back then but we had breaks to recuperate. I could run in the morning and blog during weekends.  I actually like what I'm doing currently but I feel like a machine working 24/7. Maybe it's only an adjustment period but so far, this is how things are for me.

And just when I'm starting to get better from the flu, my back injury has returned.  It was probably caused by sitting for long periods of time and not being able to exercise for the past couple of months then triggered by my incessant coughing.  My back hurts every time I cough or sneeze, I cant bend to pick up something from the floor, and even as I'm typing up this post while seated, my back is hurting like crazy!  Yes, it's that bad.

So to counter the crankiness, I thought of updating my blog today.  And what better topic to write about than my favorite holiday (after Christmas)... Halloween!

Quick and Easy Meals With Filippo Berio.

I love eating out in restaurants so I'm not really a domestic diva but lately, I've been trying to learn quick and easy meals I can do at home.  So when I got a package from Filippo Berio, I thought of what I can do with the items inside.

S&R Members' Treat (Sept 30 to Oct 2).

You guessed it.. The much-awaited S&R Members' Treat is back!

From September 30 to October 2 (that's next week already!), our favorite items will be discounted up to 50% or Buy 1, Take 1.  I wish Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream will be on sale.  Looking forward to hoard Chunky Monkey, Choco Chop Cookie Dough, and New York Fudge Choco! I can imagine topping S&R's US Double Choco Chop Creme Ring Cake or US Vanilla Marble Ring Cake (yes, I have a sweet tooth) with those flavors so I hope the cakes are on sale too.

If any of you are in Alabang next weekend, I'll see you there!  Happy shopping!

Something Exciting From S&R.

Guess what's coming to S&R this month?

And before going home, stop by SM Hypermarket because the usual grocery buys will be on sale!

Review of Huawei P9's Leica Camera.

Even before the advent of digital cameras and smartphones, I already love taking photos of food, landscapes, and everything in between.  I got it from my mom who documents everything, like our family trips, milestones in our lives, or even the most mundane things like eating out or going to the park.  As I grew older, I appreciated what she did for us even more because I have photos to remember those happy moments by.  It was more difficult then.. Cameras were bulky, not to mention we had to carry rolls of film and packs of batteries.  But now, it's so easy!  We always have our smartphone with us so we can just take pictures anytime.

That's why I was excited to snap photos using the new Huawei P9 smartphone because I learned that it co-engineered with Leica to come up with groundbreaking dual lenses!  I can't believe it.. Leica lenses in a smartphone! That is just wow.

And it just so happened that I had a workcation (work + vacation) the week I received my Huawei P9 so I brought it along to try it out.  Changing the way I see the world? Check!

Orogold Cosmetics Philippines.

Orogold is an internationally acclaimed luxury brand with over 110 international locations, 16 collections, and 75 luxury beauty products.  Their lavish beauty boutiques can be found across the globe in places such as in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Dubai, Singapore, Amsterdam, Australia, Hong Kong, Russia, Spain, London, and now in the Philippines.   My current work schedule is even more hectic than my last so I don't get to go to events or invites anymore but it just so happened that I was staycationing in Marriott Hotel that day, which is in Resorts World also, so I was able to visit Orogold.

How To Cook Nestle Creamy Adobo At Home.

Remember when I said that I'll try to cook adobo using Chef Rob Pengson's recipe (read my blog post about Nestle's Creamy Chicken Adobo)?  T and I went ahead and spent our afternoon cooking in his home.

McDonald's Double Choco Crumble Hotcakes.

When I was younger, the big McDonald's near our school was our meeting place before going to a volleyball game.  My teammates and I would have breakfast there while waiting for everyone else and I would always get Hotcakes.  And now, available for a limited only, my classic breakfast favorite is getting a makeover.. Check out the Double Choco Crumble Hotcakes!

S&R July Finds: The Cheesecake Factory and More!

Do you know that goodies from The Cheesecake Factory is now available in S&R?  And I'm not talking about those cakes in boxes.. It's the real deal!

Gourmade by Chef Rob Lau's Healthy Food Delivery.

Every diet starts tomorrow.

What started as an inside joke between my family and friends became the tag line of this blog because I'd always try to lessen my eating but end up pigging out and declaring after that I'll start tomorrow.  I know I'm not alone in this dilemma and we all know that "tomorrow" never comes :D

To be honest, I cannot diet for the life of me because my EQ is low when it comes to food.  When I want something, I need to eat it. But then after seeing the yoyo effect of fad diets on other people, I realized that starving yourself doesn't really work.  What is needed is a change in lifestyle and eating right. And since the hardest part in all of this is starting, you can try Gourmade by Chef Rob Lau's food delivery so you won't be hassled with figuring out your menu and preparing the dishes.

There are two kinds of menus: Skinny Down and Pescatarian.   Skinny Down is for those who want to lose weight by eating portion controlled meals.  Pescatarian works the same way too but it's for those who prefer only fish and vegetables.   Each  meal plan is for 5 days which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks per day.

I've tried both Skinny Down and Pescatarian and I want to show you how yummy the dishes are because the usual feedback I hear from those who've tried other diet food delivery services is that the food is not that good or does not have any flavor.

Nestle's Creamy Chicken Adobo.

Two weekends ago, T and I were invited by Nestle to their event at the Blue Leaf Events Place in Taguig.   The invite just said "Create with Cream" so T and I didn't know what to expect.  When we got there, we learned that we were all going to learn how to cook Creamy Chicken Adobo using Nestle All Purpose Cream.  T and I have never tried that kind of adobo so we were excited to know how!

Oishi Snacktacular 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you might have seen my funny human claw machine and duck videos.   The event I went to is called Oishi Snacktacular 2016 which is still on going until July 18 (that's tomorrow) at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia from 10am to 9pm.  T and I went yesterday and Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Alex Gonzaga, Slater Young, and Ramon Bautista were also there.  But don't worry, Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub will be there on Sunday!

The Reason For My Blog Hiatus.

I know I haven't been that active here in Joei & Me the past few months. I've only posted five times in May and even fewer in June.  Work is always hectic, that's a given.  So at the most, I can only have one extracurricular activity to add to my current schedule and that's already cutting it close. That activity is usually blogging. Any more and that would mean shorter time with T, which was not an option for me.

But when T's sister Michelle and I signed up for the Nike Half Marathon last May, most of my time was spent preparing for this.  Looking back, I could have trained more but that was the most I could do with the campaign coinciding with my actual work.  So I literally had no time for blogging.

High Tea and Fashion Show With The Fab 4.

Last year, I had the opportunity to meet designer Ulysses King at the Philippine Senate Christmas party where I won best dressed and he was one of the judges. It was only later that I discovered that he designed one of the favorite gowns I own! That was such a pleasant surprise and everyone loved that gown as well. My friends on Facebook and Instagram were all praises!

Tomorrow, Ulysses and three other designers (Nardie Presa, Claiza Bihasa, and Jun Jun Cambe) will be launching their 2016 Holiday Collection at Vu's Sky Bar and Lounge in Marco Polo Ortigas. If you liked what I wore, this is something you shouldn't miss.

KidZania Manila.

If you're thinking of what to do on Father's Day, one place I can suggest is KidZania which is a franchise from Mexico and brought to the Philippines last August 2015.  Usually, parents are hands-off inside but for Father's Day, dads are allowed to join their kids in select role-playing activities. KidZania invited me to visit them a while back but since its a place built for kids, I asked T's niece and nephews if they wanted to go with me.

The whole experience is made as true-to-life as possible.  To get to the city of KidZania, we have to check in to get our Cebu Pacific boarding passes.

May Kitchen Finds at S&R.

T and I went to S&R before leaving for Boracay to buy some things but we got distracted with cool kitchen stuff.  Check out this Vintage Cotton Candy Machine which is a great buy if you're hosting a children's party at your home!

La Cocina de Tita Moning.

Last year, I saw La Cocina de Tita Moning on Deal Grocer, a company I trust because I've never had a problem with them unlike with other group buying sites (read my blog post about the Metro Deal Scam).  I bought a deal for a four-course meal and thought of taking T there for his birthday, but then we watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens instead and things got a bit busy afterwards.

I also planned a birthday trip for him to Dumaguete and Siquijor, which I still have to blog about, so I forgot all about the deal I bought.. Until last month when Deal Grocer reminded me that I have a voucher about to expire.  I booked us for lunch one weekend and it was timely because apparently, La Cocina de Tita Moning is already closing by the end of May. So if you plan to go here, I suggest you book now.   You still have a few days! I'll be posting their contact details at the end of this post.

La Cocina de Tita Moning is located inside the Malacañan compound.  Good thing T is familiar with the way because he would drive me when I have meetings in the area.

The Summer Drinks of Serenitea.. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!

One morning, I got an unexpected delivery and when I opened the box, I smiled when I saw what was inside.. Reese's, Reese's, and more Reese's!  Apparently, Serenitea's new drink offerings all involve Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

The Healing Power of Vaseline's Petroleum Jelly and Lotion.

Although I buy Vaseline petroleum Jelly, I had no idea that is a do-it-all wonder product that can heal burns, rashes, cuts, and bruises!  I only use it on my lips and my feet to moisturize.  I was never aware about its healing properties and other skin benefits.

It's also only recently that I've learned that tropical weather can actually dehydrate our skin!    I always thought that I should moisturize only in places where the weather is dry.  Unknown to many, including me, a hot and humid climate does not mean that one's skin will not turn dry.  Hot showers, air-conditioned rooms, exposure to heat and pollution while outside--- all of these strip the skin of natural hydration and moisture.  And to address this problem, Vaseline launches their new Vaseline body lotions which contain Petroleum Jelly!

Joining The Nike Women's Half Marathon (21K) Manila 2016.

I've had second thoughts of blogging about this new (or more of renewed) interest of mine because 'Joei & Me' has been associated more with food or travel than fitness.  But like I always say, my blog is my diary so I finally decided to dedicate a post about running here since it's something that has sparked my interest lately.  In fact, I never realized it but my first entry in this blog is about my Nike+ Sports Band (read my blog post about My New Runningmate) which was a Christmas gift from T.

To be honest, I'm not a runner.  I was a volleyball player back in the day.  We jump, we roll, we spike but we don't really run except if we're getting 'punished' for not being able to perform well in court during practice.  I also haven't been active in the past year.  My work out consists mostly of walking around the mall and carrying shopping bags :D But T's sister Michelle convinced me to be her buddy  for the Nike Women's Half Marathon this year.  Grabe diba half marathon kaagad??  I don't regret it though. In fact, I'm glad I said yes because this half marathon is something to check off my do-something-you've-never-done-before list before I celebrate my birthday in May.

So after we registered, I ran maybe once a week, twice at the most, but never really gave it much thought until last week when I realized that the race is only a few weeks away.  Panic mode.  Luckily, my friends are also into fitness lately so our 'gimiks' are now running or working out in the gym. It also helps that I have T who is very supportive and friends who push me when I say I don't think I can do this (hi Kat Reambillo!). I'm also thankful for my runner and triathlete friends who give free tips about running programs, what to do, what to buy, and all that (hi everyone!).  One important advice I got from Tito Joey Torres, who is an Ironman athlete, is to run in the morning since the race I'm joining is not in the evening.

So last Monday, I woke up early (this in itself is already a feat for me!) and ran.  I was gunning for 12K because I haven't gotten past 11 kilometers but when I felt like I still had energy, I continued on until I reached 16K.  I wanted to push it a bit further still but my phone's battery was dying at 5% so I stopped at 16.5K.

K-Pub BBQ's Bibimbap Lunch Set Promo.

Earlier this month, T and I were invited by KPub BBQ to try their Bibimbap Lunch Set promo.  They told me that they will be serving a lot of dishes so I asked our friend Wowie Aguilar and T's sister Michelle to join us.

Les Miserables in Manila!

I love Broadway shows but T is not really fond of them.  So when he said he wanted to watch Les Miserables, which is showing at The Theater in Solaire, I immediately bought tickets.  I wouldn't have gone if it were just me because I just saw the play in New York a few months ago (thank you Coach Dennis and Aby!) but this is the first time we'll be watching an international production together.

Give The Gift of Life This Earth Day With Coffee Bean And Tea Leaf.

The reality is that there are still a great number of homes in the Philippines that do not have electricity, which is one of the most basic necessities for decent living conditions.  Thus, in celebration of Earth day, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf will give these people the gift of life through My Shelter Foundation's Liter of Light project.  You can be part of this too!

On April 23, you can be a Solar Lamp Volunteer for a day at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's 26th Street Bistro Store in Bonifacio Global City from 3pm to 5pm.  For only PhP950, you will be taught how to build a solar lamp.  Parents, this is a good activity to bring your kids to because not only is it educational, it is also meaningful as the children are empowered at a young age to help those who are in need.

Nivea Slidefest 2016 in Filinvest Alabang.

Last weekend, T and I went with his cousins to the Nivea Slidefest in Filinvest Alabang, which is said to be the biggest slip-and-slide in Asia.

Burger Geek in Molito Alabang.

T and I are happy when new establishments open in Alabang, especially if it's Japanese or a burger place.  So when we heard that a restaurant called Burger Geek just opened in Molito, we decided to pay it a visit.

Footzone Day Spa Greenhills.

I've been invited by Footzone Day Spa a year ago but since I'm not usually in Greenhills, I didn't get to schedule a visit.  One weekend, I was in the area for a seminar and by chance, the spa sent me an email asking again when I could go.  I guess it was fated for us to visit! So I asked T, who was picking me up, if we can pass by before having dinner.

Footzone Day Spa has been in business for the past 15 years.  It's in a small little nook and you won't really see it if you're just on the road passing by, but what's noticeable are the expensive cars parked outside.  And while I was going in the spa, on their way out are people with drivers and bodyguards surrounding them.   I took this as a sign that the establishment provides quality service.

The VIP Launch of H&M's Conscious Exclusive Collection 2016.

Last week, T's sister Michelle and I were invited to the VIP launch of H&M's Conscious Exclusive Collection 2016 at the Mega Fashion Hall of SM Megamall.    The clothes in the collection are made from sustainable materials such as organic silk, linen, hemp, Denimite, and the embellishments are made from  recycled glass.  How cool right?

Uptown Mall BGC: What Restaurants Are Open + The Food Hall + The VIP Cinema.

Before Holy Week, I developed a really bad cough that keeps me up at night.  It then morphed into a bad sore throat which I think I got from T's nephew.  We both had the same symptoms-- high fever,  the chills, no cold but a really scratchy throat that wouldn't allow me to swallow even water or my own saliva.  The coughing fit lessened a bit during this time but it returned just when I was getting better from the sore throat.

I don't pay much attention to sickness.  I go on with my usual routine and just ride it out or if it turns for the worse, self-medicate.  But when one of my officemates, who developed the cough later than I did, was diagnosed positive for pneumonia, T insisted that I see a doctor.  There aren't any pulmonologists available in the hospital near us so we go all the way to St Luke's Medical Center in Fort to see one.

By the time I am done with my doctor's appointment, it is rush hour already.  We decide to get something to eat before going home and after driving a bit, we see the new mall in BGC.  T and I go around to check what restaurants are already open inside Uptown Mall.  We may have missed some but so far, these are the ones T and I saw which are operational as of last week.

Glazed by Mariella.

Remember my post last time about a cake that's virtually fat free?  Mariella Martinez is back and this time, her business is officially known as Glazed by Mariella.  She sent me one of her newest creations called the Mocha Cake. Isn't it pretty?

Sigekiya Ramen in Commercenter Alabang.

There's a new ramen shop in the Philippines.. Sigekiya Ramen! T and I were invited by the owner to visit them before they opened last April 5.  I was sick last Sunday (well, even until today) and my throat was really sore so a hot bowl of ramen was just what I needed. After hearing mass, T and I went to Commercenter Alabang and had dinner there.
