The Reason For My Blog Hiatus.

I know I haven't been that active here in Joei & Me the past few months. I've only posted five times in May and even fewer in June.  Work is always hectic, that's a given.  So at the most, I can only have one extracurricular activity to add to my current schedule and that's already cutting it close. That activity is usually blogging. Any more and that would mean shorter time with T, which was not an option for me.

But when T's sister Michelle and I signed up for the Nike Half Marathon last May, most of my time was spent preparing for this.  Looking back, I could have trained more but that was the most I could do with the campaign coinciding with my actual work.  So I literally had no time for blogging.

After the half marathon and the elections, there was still work to be done but luckily, I was able to go on a short birthday trip with my friends in Boracay.  I brought my laptop thinking that I could catch up on my blogging but decided later that I didn't want to spend my days indoors glued to technology.  This birthday break granted to me was rare and sacred so I unplugged from the rest of the world (except for a few mornings when I had to work) and spent my time in the ocean with T and my friends instead.

By the time I returned, things were really hectic at the office.  There was no time for any other extracurricular activity.  All my time was for work.  Even after the proclamation of the President and the Vice President, there was still a lot to be done.

And as we were moving towards the end, all my attention was focused on sorting all the books, files, and documents and deciding which ones to keep, recycle, or shred.  It sounds easy but believe me it's not.  Plus, we also had to say goodbye to people who have been part of each other's lives for more than a decade.   And while things were coming to a close for me at this side, something was opening up for me at the other end of the spectrum.  Before I knew it, I was juggling my old work and my new one.  To be honest, this whole period was physically, mentally, and emotionally draining for me.   When I get home during weekdays and even during the weekends, all I wanted to do was to sleep, eat, or watch a movie with T.   I can't even muster enough energy to spend time with friends.  This is the photo of my personal cabinet in the office.  The last thing I took out was my favorite work shoe aka my glass slipper.

Finally things slowed down a little.  My childhood best friend Maisie was getting married to her longtime boyfriend JB and the wedding was out of town. I thought, "Perfect!  Now I could carve out some time to blog".  To be honest, I was still not in the mood but I knew I had to start writing again sometime soon. I guess things were really not meant to be though because there was no wifi or signal in our area.  I took it as a sign.  Maybe I really just need to rest for a while.

And then T and I got engaged!  Of course, almost all of my energy and attention were drawn to this.   Between my new work and initial planning for the wedding, there was almost no time left.  I knew both T and I were going to be really busy soon so we tried to get as much groundwork done as possible-- talking to people close to us about our engagement, getting a vision of what kind of wedding we want, discussing possible dates and venues, listing non-negotiables, and going to bridal fairs to see what was out there.

And just when I thought I wouldn't go back to blogging anymore, I was invited to an event earlier and I don't know.. For some reason, I just got back all the blogging energy I lost.  I opened my laptop and words came streaming out for this post.

So to all of the sponsors and readers, thank you for your patience and for still getting in touch with me through comments, direct messages, and emails, and for still visiting my blog. I really appreciate it!  I think this is what kept me from leaving the blogosphere for good.  Hopefully, I'll be able to cope with these new chapters in my life soon while catching up on my backlogs.. Baby steps :)
