Applebee's Grill and Bar, Now Open in BGC!

Two months ago, I wrote about how excited I was that one of my favorite American restaurant chains called Applebee's Grill and Bar is opening its first branch in the Philippines (read my blog post about Applebee's Bar and Grill: There's No Place Like Today.).  That's why I was happy when T and I were invited to the VIP event + blessing of the first Applebee's branch at Bonifacio High Street.

The event started with a blessing by a priest then, instead of a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Archie Rodriguez and the rest of the Global Restaurants Concepts group have a ceremonial grilling instead.  How cool is that!

After the ceremonies, we all enter the first floor which is where the bar is.

T and I go to the dining area on the second floor and on the way up, we see these interesting posters on the wall.

The second floor is a full dining area with equally interesting artwork on the walls.

It is a fun night of free-flowing drinks and food that at one point, T and I had to say no already because we were so full :D  Here are some Applebee's menu favorites to try:

The first is the Oriental Chicken Salad (Half PhP295 / Full PhP450+) which is Fresh Asian greens, rice noodles, and almonds mixed with oriental vinaigrette.  For the chicken, you have choice between fried chicken or oriental grilled chicken.

I also like the Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad (PhP325+) which is chopped lettuce tossed with black bean corn salsa, roasted red peppers and onions, tortilla strips, white cheddar, and spicy jalapeƱo dressing then topped with chimichurri glazed grilled chicken.

T and I always put too much dressings on our salad so we are a bit surprised with how spicy the dressing is.  If you're not into spicy stuff, don't add too much or just ask for the dressing on the side.  But if you're like me who loves spicy stuff, then pile it on!

T takes better photos than me now so I let him do it ;)  This is the Cowboy Burger (PhP525+) which is a true Western burger topped with crispy onion strings, melted white cheddar cheese, and smoked bacon served on a toasted brioche bun with honey BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.

But my favorite will always be the Pork Ribs (Half PhP650 / Full PhP950) which is BBQ pork ribs marinated in special house blended sauce and grilled to perfection,  It's served with corn on the cob, French fries, and coleslaw with a choice of honey BBQ sauce, smoky chipotle, spicy sweet Asian chili, or Korean BBQ sauce.

Next to the ribs, these Pot Stickers (PhP325+) are my favorite!  Shrimp and pork-filled wontons served with Thai peanut and soy dumpling sauces.

At Applebee's, there's always a reason to celebrate!  Whether it be a pay raise, a new baby in the family, a promotion or just a really good day, pass by Applebee's to celebrate this moment :)

Thank you for the invitation Applebee's and congratulations on the opening of your first branch in the Philippines!
