Kettle's Buttermilk Fried Chicken in SM Aura.

Fried chicken is my weakness.  So when I heard that a restaurant serving good buttermilk fried chicken called Kettle opened in Shangri-La Mall, I wanted to pay a visit.    But months passed and I wasn't able to try it because I rarely go to that area.   Good thing Kettle opened another branch in BGC and T and I were finally able to go.

We went there last January when Kettle just opened in SM Aura so there was a wait for a table.  I'm not sure if it's the same nowadays.    But I have to commend the staff and/or the manager for extending their operating hours.  T and I were waiting for quite a while and it was almost closing time when they called us but they still let us in.  Plus, they didn't make me and T (and the next customers on the list) feel like we were keeping them later than usual.  They patiently waited until we ordered and finished our meal.  So thank you!  I really needed good food that day :D

For our drinks, T and I got Iced Tea in a 750ml carafe (PhP170/$3.64+).

For our starters, I wanted to order the Baked Brie but it was not available anymore.  T got the Truffle Gorgonzola (PhP299/$6.50) which is spaghetti with truffle cream, fried basil, and parmesan cheese.

He also got the US Angus Short Ribs (PhP539/$11.55+) which is ribs braised in Cervesa Negra and Chipotle barbecue sauce and comes with garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw.  But instead of garlic mashed potatoes, T paid extra to get Sweet Potato Fries instead.

And here it is... I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (PhP559/$12+) with honey glazed cornbread, country gravy, and cajun honey.  I like everything about this dish.  The serving is large, the chicken is juicy and its skin crunchy, the combination of the country gravy and cajun honey with the chicken and cornbread is perfect.  I am all praises for this dish.

And just to show you how big the dish is...

Excuse my tired-looking face... It was a long day for me.

Thumbs Up!
Really good buttermilk fried chicken.
Large servings.
Value for money.
Good service (and letting us in even after closing hours after that long wait).

Thumbs Down!
Nothing really except that there was a wait for a table.

Verdict
T and I will be back especially if I'm craving for good ol' fried chicken again.

  4. I was a bit underwhelmed with their buttermilk fried chicken but I this might be because my standards have changed since The Girl + The Bull. You ought to try theirs! :)
