I promised T a birthday treat to Nobu Restaurant, but as usual, things got a bit hectic over the holidays up to until February so I only got to schedule dinner last week. Actually, that week was a bit busy too but I know that if we don't push through, we won't be able to do it anymore.
This is not our first time in the City of Dreams so we know that from the main entrance, we have to take the elevator to get to Nobu.

Nobu is one of the world's famous Japanese restaurants and has a big celebrity following. It probably helps that Robert De Niro is one of the co-founders, together with, well, Nobu :)
There aren't that many dishes on the menu but everything looks so good. It's been a long day and all I want to do is talk to T over good food so we ask our server for the Nobu best sellers.
To start, we have the Nobu Salmon Skin Salad (PhP620/$14.05++). The dressing is the sour kind but it complements the salty salmon skin pieces. I really like this.
Nobu Sushi Rolls are either Hand or Cut. Hand are the cone-shaped ones while Cut are the usual maki rolls. T and I order the Cut Soft Shell Crab (PhP500/$11.35) which is our favorite kind of maki and also a best seller in Nobu.
I want to try King Prawns with Dry Miso from the 'Brick Oven Dishes' but T wants to get the Rock Shrimp Tempura (PhP990/$22.50++) under 'Hot Dishes'. Both are best sellers but since it is T's birthday dinner, he wins. Different sauce choices are Creamy Spicy (our choice!), Creamy Jalapeño or Butter Ponzu. The dish is really spicy but good!
For our main, I order the Jidori Free Range Chicken (PhP1,010/$23++) with white rice and a choice of Teriyaki, Wasabi Pepper, or Anticucho Sauce. We choose Teriyaki because it's my favorite. This is another Nobu best seller.
For dessert, I originally wanted the Chestnut Napoleon but our server said it isn't available anymore. T chooses the Chocolate Bento Box (PhP350/$8) instead, which is chocolate lava cake that comes with green tea ice cream.
I find the presentation really nice. It's just a simple bento box but the whole concept is cute. As for the taste? Two thumbs up! T and I really love this dessert BUT...
Halfway through the cake, I feel something rubbery while chewing so I spit whatever it is into my table napkin.. It's a strip of plastic! I really don't want to make a big deal out of it but I know that Nobu gives importance to the quality of their food so I tell our server. He apologizes profusely and takes away the dessert even if we tell him there's no need to. Our server shows the dessert to the pastry chef who comes and apologizes as well.
Minutes later, T wonders what happened to our dessert and jokes that I shouldn't have called their attention because he really likes the lava cake.
I am about to get the bill when our server comes back and places this on our table. It's the Chestnut Napoleon (PhP420/$10) that I wanted earlier but was supposedly not available. Five layers of dark chocolate and meringue heaven!
T and I are full to the brim when our server comes again with a new Chocolate Bento Box to replace the one they took. Overtime, overweight!
Belated happy birthday T.. or should I say Leonardo di Caprio! Pabigyan ang birthday boy ;) Hope you enjoyed our dinner :)
