As you may have (or may have not) noticed, I have been absent from the blogosphere for quite some time and even on social media, posting only a few photos here and there.
To be honest, I have suffered from quite a burn out from all aspects of my life. Don't get me wrong though. I am truly grateful for all the opportunities that I have been given the past year and just need a bit of time and space to rest, recuperate, and do things that don't involve my phone, the computer, or the Internet. So I decided to go on a hiatus just for the holidays.
And since I have this tradition of reminiscing the past year before it ends, what better way to ease into blogging by looking back at the fun memories of 2014? Here we go!

The Secret Book Club
January
It started when I talked to two of my batchmates from high school, Iza and Lar, about how there aren't any book clubs in our area. We all share our love for books so we jokingly called ourselves The Secret Book Club, telling each other our newest reads and recommendations in "secret". Before we knew it, we had more friends and their friends joining the group. Right now we're about 23 but we hope to meet even more book lovers this year.

Valentine's Day
February
Little did I know that T also planned a Valentine's Day lunch at My Mother's Garden the next day. So I guess I am his both his kabit and his girlfriend ;)
My family and I were in New York the year Wicked premiered on Broadway. Although we wanted to watch, tickets were sold out for the next few months. The broadway musical finally came to Manila after over a decade so despite having the flu, I had to watch it!
February
One evening, T and I were listening to Magic 89.9 and the topic was Valentine's Day. Boys Night Out were on and they said that kabits (mistresses) were usually taken out on dates the day before Valentine's and the girlfriends or wives on the 14th. So I laughed when T took me out on an impromptu date on the 13th at Caviar Champagne Restaurant and Bar.

Batanes
April
Sensory shock overload (in a good way) when, in less than twenty four hours, I was taken from the lush rolling hills of Batanes to the blue green seas of Cebu.
The RH Law was finally declared constitutional by the Supreme Court! I have worked on the law from the beginning of the 15th Congress up until it was brought to the Supreme Court. I couldn't find the raw version so I'll use this edited photo taken in the Supreme Court which I captioned "I photobombed a 'powerhouse'".

Finally got to cross off one of the items on my dream destinations list. I really should prioritize blogging about my trip here.

Cutting My Hair
May
I have always worn my hair long regardless of hair trends so it was a big step to cut almost a foot of my hair. I sent my hair to a foundation that makes wigs for cancer patients.

The first 4DX theaters in the Philippines open at Bonifacio High Street. Like 3D cinemas, we were given glasses

particular scenes in the movie.

The MRT Challenge
October
This is the first time I rode the MRT.. during rush hour.. and in heels! I came from a DOJ conference in Crowne Plaza and had no intention of watching the UAAP game with T and our friends, Neil Arce and Chippy Andolong. But since I was in the area anyway, T asked me to go with them. This was the day that EDSA was transformed into a swimming pool, when flood waters in front of SM Megamall and Camp Crame rose waist level. Since EDSA was impossible to pass through, we went down the car, told the driver to meet us in Araneta and walked for a kilometer or two along EDSA to get to the nearest MRT station. Crazy crazy crazy!

Halloween
October
I love Halloween and prepare costumes for me and T
every year. But at the last minute, T will tell me he doesn't feel like
wearing them so we end up not going in costume at all. This year was
our 8th Halloween and I wasn't really expecting anything anymore. But when T bought masks and consulted me about his costume, I got
excited and we talked about what we were going to be. T and I had a
number of options but at the end we decided to be Annabelle the Doll
from The Conjuring and Billy the Puppet from the Saw movies. Check out our DIY costumes and makeup!

Paul & Kat's Wedding
December
My good friends from law school Paul & Kat got married after being together for 9 years! The ceremony was in Manila Cathedral and the reception was in One Esplanade. It's the first 'black' wedding I attended and everything was so glam! Here's a nice photo of Kat walking down the aisle, taken by my fellow entourage member Ange.
Phew! That's a lot although I still may have missed a few celebrations and events because I'm just trying to ease my way into blogging again as I do this. Plus, I still have the flu so I'm not a 100% yet. But I'm really happy I did this stroll down memory lane. Didn't realize a lot of things happened in 2014! I thought it was just another year that passed.
Although I still can't say the same for other things, I am finally looking forward to blogging again! I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported Joei & Me this past year. Sponsors, readers, partners.. Thank you so much! I love receiving emails and reading comments and those really helped a lot during my short hiatus :)
Albeit late, I want to wish everyone a happy new year!

What a busy year! Wishing you another year filled with unlimited joy & fun adventures dear Joei. I'm thankful for 2014 as I met you, Patty & Mish. Sorry if I was a bit detached these few months, So many mommy & other duties to fulfill. But you are always in my thoughts. All the best to you & Timmy. Mwah! :-*
