If you're from the South and wondering what to do on Good Friday or Black Saturday, you can visit the Miraculous Sto Nino de Providencia in BF Resort Village. I learned about it while we were doing Visita Iglesia yesterday with my mom and her friends. Tita Norma Tanwangco, one of mom's friends, said she wanted to pass by the Sto Nino that was crying oil. I haven't heard of it so I wanted to see it as well.
According to the pamphlet that was given to us, the small statue of the Sto. Nino was purchased by the mother of Lorna Gonzales sometime in 1988. When the younger brother of Lorna met a fatal accident coming from his duty as a medical intern, they placed the image in the living room so their family could pray day and night.
On 27 January 1992 at around 10:30 in the morning, Lorna saw their whole living room flooded with a very sweet smelling and sticky liquid then she saw where it was coming from, the Sto Nino statue was shedding liquid profusely from His eyes. Lorna's first instinct was to scoop the liquid and apply it to her brother's body and eventually, Lorna's brother started to recover.
Around noon of the same day, nuns and priests of different congregations came to pay homage to the Sto Nino. Endless devotees started to pour in everyday so they had to construct a small Prayer Room to be able to accommodate everybody.
On 16 June 1992, Msgr. Josefino Ramirez gave Him the name "Miraculous Infant Jesus dela Providencia" and blessed the Holy Family Room on the same day. They say blessings and miraculous healings of deadly and serious diseases have been reported since 1992 up to the present time.
Upon a closer look at the Sto Nino, one will see cotton balls around its feet. It's to absorb the oil that the statue sheds.
After praying, a Brother prayed over each of us and gave us a Novena booklet and a bottle of the Holy Oil.
The Holy Family Prayer Room is open Monday to Sunday from 8:00am to 12:00nn and 1:00pm to 5:00pm and the Feast Day of the Miraculous Infant Jesus dela Providencia is every January 27.
