Maple Restaurant at Commercenter Alabang.

T and I first saw Maple when they opened in San Antonio Plaza in Forbes Park.  It's on our list of restaurants to visit but something always came up.  Then Joei & Me got an invitation to the opening of Maple's Shangrila branch but unfortunately, my schedule got messed up that day so T and I were not able to go.  So when I heard that they were opening in Alabang, I thought this was fate ;)

Maple is located at Commercenter, the building opposite Acacia Hotel.  The place is still being developed with lots of stores still closed so go around the area and look for this sign.

Maple Alabang has two floors.  The first floor has a few two-seater tables, more suited for couples beacuse of the privacy it offers.

There are more tables outside but which isn't really outdoor since it's still inside the building.

T and I chose to stay on the second floor.  I love the ambiance, very classy and yet homey at the same time.

Book-lover that I am, I found their menus interesting!

And when I opened them, it really was like a book!  On the first page was the story of Maple.

Then you go through the menu with all the appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, entrees, and desserts...

...before you get to the ending of the story.  Just like a book.  Coolios!

Now on to the food.

Our server first gave me and T a roll with some butter.

For our drinks, T got  Country Iced Tea (P105/$2.33++) while I got a Fresh Fruit Smoothie (P195/$4.33++)

For our salad, T chose the Arugula and Prosciutto Salad (P375/$8.33) which is a mix of arugula, cherry tomatoes, and walnuts tossed with a light vinaigrette, topped with poached egg, prosciutto, Grana Padana shavings, and a drizzle of balsamic.

This is perfect because it combines two of my favorite things, arugula and prosciutto!  T is not a fan of arugula but he likes how the flavors blended together.  I, on the other hand, am not a fan of eggs on my food (except for tapsilog) but it went surprisingly well with the salad.   This is good for sharing.

We got the Black Truffle Pasta (P510/$11.33++) which is linguine tossed in black truffle cream sauce with crisp pancetta, prosciutto and Grana Padana shavings, and seasoned with black truffle oil.  This is SOOOOO good.  To the point that we had to ask our server why isn't there a maple leaf before it's name to signify it's a chef's recommendation.  Again, this is good for sharing.

For our main, T and I agreed to get the Rib Eye Steak (P1,680/$37.33) which is grilled USDA Angus "Prime Grade" Rib eye steak and served with herbed potatoes and haricot verts. 

The steak comes with two sauces: one is Red Wine Demiglace, which T liked, and the other is the classic chimichurri sauce, which I liked.  The latter reminds me of native suka with sili that we mix and dip our inihaws into.  It seems unusual for a steak but I thought the flavors mixed well.  But if in doubt, just ask if you can get a little of both sauces to try.  Another option is bleu cheese herbed butter.  We asked them to place it on top of our steak.  I couldn't really taste the bleu cheese flavor though.

The steak we got was already huge but if you really want to try an even bigger piece, Maple has what they call the Yabadabadoo!, which is a 1kg USDA tomahawk steak.  Definitely good for sharing with the whole fam!

There was very, very little space left in our stomachs with all the food but our server suggested that we try the Chocolate Skillet Cookie (P225/$5++) which is hot, fudgy cookie dough baked in a skillet topped with maple glazed pecans and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  This was good as well and definitely for sharing.

Thank you Maple, specifically to Kai, Hanz, Mel, Caf, JL and everyone who made our dining experience wonderful.  T and I will definitely be back!

It was a bit hot in the restaurant but I think it's because they just opened when T and I got there so the a/c wasn't on full blast yet.

We'll definitely be back!
