Hatch 22 at the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell.

I'm not a breakfast person but this week, I had breakfast, well, brunch with T twice. The first was in Luna Specialty Coffee and the second was in Hatch 22 Cafe & Bakery, located at the ground floor of the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell, where Crustascia used to be.

Upon entering the cafe, different kinds of pastries and bread greeted us.

There were no available tables so T and I sat by the bar first.

Because we were exposed to all that bread while waiting, T ordered a bread basket.  There are two kinds of bread baskets in Hatch 22, one foreign and one local.  We got the latter.  Bread Basket 2 (P250/$5.55) has pandesal epi, pan de month, Spanish bread, chicken empanada, and ensaymada.  T and I both liked the Spanish bread best.

As you can see, the basket is almost a meal in itself for those who like bread for breakfast and is good for sharing.

It also comes with queso de bola butter and hot tsokolate dip.

T and I both got Fresh Fruit Shakes (P120/$2.66) and a Cappuccino (P110/$2.44).

For his entree, T got the Crispy Corned Beef (P380/$8.44) which is spiced up crispy Delimondo corned beef with extreme garlic rice, crunchy egg and seared tomatoes.  This is good!  T and I both liked it.

On the other hand, I got the Hatch Farm Omelette (P380/$8.44) with country ham, smoked bacon, spicy pork sausage, Tillamook cheddar, and Monterey Jack Cheese.

It sounds so promising in the menu plus I thought it was their special because of this sign by the entrance but when I took a bite, I found it just ok.  I wish I ordered something else.

And it didn't help that I waited so long for it.  T was almost done with his order when they served this to me.

Although I'd like to give them plus points for the food presentation.  Check out the twirled up hungarian sausage.

Thumbs Up!
Nice decor.
Serves all-day breakfast.
Good food preesentation.

Thumbs Down!
Long waiting time for my omelet.
Only accepts reservations from Monday to Thursday.

Verdict
I still prefer Apartment 1B (based on my omelet order) but T and I are always in Rockwell anyway so I think we'll give this place another try.

I like Hatch & their stuff are good ... but they need to do something with the restaurant's acoustics - the panels or the ceiling, not sure which one.

When there are a lot of people, it gets borderline irritating. You want to talk to the person you're with but couldn't do so coz it's just impossible to hear each other.

PS. I LOVE APARTMENT 1B, too!

You know mother, everytime someone asks me what's a good place to eat at here, there, etc., I always point them to your blog haha.

I was about to say mouthwatering presentation!

I wanna try it. I, on the other hand, can live on breakfast food haha. So I shall give this a try too ;)
