Sambo Kojin, Yakiniku Smokeless Grill: Grill All You Can, Eat All You Can.

During December, there are lots of socials left and right and my body could not keep up!  I missed the wedding of a law schoolmate and a Christmas party in Alabang but I was feeling a bit better and got to catch up with my high school classmates over lunch at Sambo Kojin in SM Southmall.

Sambo Kojin buffet during weekdays is priced at Php 569 for lunch and Php 649 for dinner while weekends are more expensive at Php 669.  Those prices are inclusive or tax and there's no service charge (so please leave a tip!).

But they have a current promo where birthday celebrants can eat there within 3 days before and three days after their birthdays.  Two people in our group are about to celebrate their birthdays soon... T and Chris, Leah's husband.  So they didn't have to pay for anything.  Nice.

Sushi and Sashimi

I first started with this section.  There were so many people that most of the plates were empty already.

Appetizer, Salad and Soup

I took a look but didn't get any because I was saving room for the good stuff.

Rice

T's happy that there is Kamameshi Rice!

He immediately brought one to the table.

There's also Bibimbap.

Japanese Specialties

There are three major areas in this section: Furai, Katsu and Tempura.  As you can see, a lot of plates, once again, are empty.

This is my favorite among the katsus.

I love how they have those seeds or whatever you call it that Yabu also has (read my blog post about Yabu The House of Katsu).

What I didn't love is this little roach I saw crawling on the bowls.  Eew.

There's also an area for the rest of the Japanese dishes such as Sukiyaki, Gyoza and Tofu Steak, among others.

Korean Specialties

Here are the dishes available in this section:

Kalbi Jjim
Chapchae
Pajeon
Pork Tofu
Yangnyom Tongdack (Spicy fried chicken wings)
Ojingo Bokum (Spicy squid with vegetables)
Tock Bokki (Beef with rice cake and mushroom)
Daeji Bulgogi (Spicy pork with carrots, zucchini and onion)
Beef Bulgogi (Beef with shitake mushroom, carrots and pepper)

Dessert

There's a wide variety of dessert options from cakes to fruits.

I like that there are five flavors of ice cream to choose from.  My favorite is Green Tea.

There's also a small fondue station but when I asked where the chocolate was, the server said they didn't have any anymore.  Hmmm.

We all left happy and full.. Well, not quite because we had coffee in Mango Tree Cafe immediately after and T got popcorn for our movie #thisiswhywerefat #everydietstartstomorrow

Thumbs Up!
Wide range of choices.
Reasonable prices.
Great katsu section.
Birthday promo where birthday celebrants eat free!

Thumbs Down!
No drink station unlike in Vikings or Buffet 101.
That little cockroach on the counter!
Lots of empty plates during rush.

Verdict
Prices are reasonable for the food selection and quality but I have mixed feelings about going back because of that roach.
