Beyond Yoga: Anti Gravity Yoga, Zumba, and Disco Flying Fitness.

I first heard of Anti-Gravity Yoga (AGY) a year (or two??) back and I'd see pictures on Facebook of my friends doing it.  Unfortunately, the only Beyond Yoga studio at that time was in Quezon City, too far for me to go to. Time passed and I totally forgot about working out or any physical activity for that matter after I sprained my ankle and then injured my back, just when my ankle was getting better.

Then one day, Senator Pia asked me if I wanted to try AGY in Beyond Yoga Fort.  I thought, why not?  It was about time I got back to doing some kind of exercise or physical activity after a long hiatus from fitness.

I was more excited than nervous for my first AGY session.  Our instructor's name was Roxanne who started the class by asking the first timers to raise their hand.  I looked around and saw only me with my hand up.

Eek.  Breathe in, breathe out.  I can do this.

And I did!  Roxanne was very patient with everyone but at the same time challenged us with poses not even those on their 3rd or 4th class have done previously.  My favorite Anti-Gravity pose, which Roxanne said is also her signature pose, that day was the "Angel".  A bit difficult since even Roxanne said that it took her 6 months to master it.  But she guided each and every one of us through the pose.

Then as faith would have it, Beyond Yoga opened a branch in Alabang just recently!  My friend Camille Concepcion was having regular Zumba classes there so I joined her.  Even if I'm no "Happy Feet", I had so much fun! We did the Disco Zumba so it was too dark to take photos.

Then for some reason, I was convinced into trying Flying Fitness.  One's supposed to have mastered the fundamentals of Anti-Gravity before doing this but... ok.  I did the class. And I survived yet again!

It was actually a Disco Flying Fitness class so the class was a bit dark which made it more difficult for me to follow our instructor Maricar.  But she was also very patient with me and everyone else who got lost along the way.

The disco lights are pretty cool though.  A different experience.

After the class, I tried to do some poses like this.  Coming from the "Monkey" pose, I did this.  So I'm not sure what this is called now.  I think the "Spiderman" pose?

Then from there, I went to do the "Eagle" pose (Thanks @weheartag! Had to ask them the pose's name on Instagram to be sure ;)

But the one I had the most fun doing is the "Vampire" pose.  You start in your pouch then you flip and voila! You end up like this!

How much is an Anti-Gravity or a Flying Fitness class? Walk-in rate is P1,000 ($22) per class so it's better to get the First Timer's package at P1,500 ($33) which gives you access to 3 AGY classes plus 1 day of unlimited mat yoga.  For the rates of the other classes, please check their website.  I placed the link below.

Which reminds me, I have to consume my classes before they expire. It's time to stretch those limbs again!
