Park Avenue Desserts in Magallanes.

After having dinner in Dayrit's (read my blog entry about this old favorite), I wanted dessert and coffee.  Cafe Breton is just beside Dayrit's but T saw another place in the area called Park Avenue Desserts.

I was still leaning towards Cafe Breton, being a go-to favorite of ours as well, but told T that if Park Venue Desserts serves macarons, we're staying.  And they did!

There is also a bunch of other desserts.  They had T at creme brulee.  And so we stayed.

Park Avenue Desserts is also into the cronut craze.

They even have CroTap which is a hybrid of cronut and otap.

It's nice how you can see the kitchen from the counter.

On the other end is their cute window display. T asked if they really make a macaron cake and the girl there said that they do!  How cute is that.  I want one for my birthday!

Hanging from the ceiling are different words related to dessert.

Chalkboards, which serve as their menu, adorn their walls.

T and I sat by the wall with quotes about sweets.  My favorite is "Save the Earth.  It's only the planet with chocolate."  I first read the quote in Singapore and loved it ever since.

T's favorite is "I don't understand why so many 'so called' chocolate lovers complain about the calories in chocolate, when all true chocoholics know that it is a vegetable.  It comes from the cocoa bean, beans are veggies, 'nuff said."  He posted it on his Instagram with the caption, I am now a vegetarian. :)

There are meringue-like flower decors on the table.

A good way to tell the kids (and kulit adults), please do not touch the decors.

The utensils are placed in a ceramic container.

Creme brulee monster T, of course, got his favorite dessert.

He also got Hot Chocolate (P80/$2) to go with it.

And this is my corner, macarons and Cappuccino (P80/$2).  Pink is rose, blue is blueberry, and yellow is lemon (P45/$1.20 each).  I like blueberry best, rose next.  Didn't really like the lemon macaron, found it too sour.  And this is coming from me who loves sour desserts like lemon pie.

Whenever I order macarons, I bite into it but leave a small piece for T to try.

This time, it slipped my mind so I got a second order of macarons but didn't get the lemon macaron anymore.  Find the hidden Mickey!

Our bill came in this.  Love the quote!

Thumbs Up!
Cute ambiance.
They have skim milk and decaf coffee!

Thumbs Down!
The lemon macaron is just a bit wee sour.

Verdict
It's nice to know that there's a nice dessert and coffee place (aside from Starbucks) in the area.

  2. Almost every cafe or pastry shop worth its salt has a cronut version already. Is it really that good?
