Jozu Kin: The Japanese Gold.

After shopping in Forever 21 at the SM Aura Premier, T and I went to Jozu Kin, another Japanese restaurant in Burgos Circle (read my blog post about Keizo Japanese Restaurant) for dinner.  It's not our first time here but I don't think I was able to blog about our previous visits.

This is the inside dining area.  T commented that it did not look like a usual Japanese restaurant.

I like the table setting.

T got his usual Miso Soup (P65/$1.60).

For our makimono, it was hard to choose because they all sounded good! We just ended up getting a favorite staple of ours, Spider Maki (P285/$7) which is soft shell crab and crabstick with teriyaki sauce.

According to Jozu Kin's menu, this is a new dish.  It's good but not as good as the other soft shell crab makis that we've tried (like the one in Omakase or Sugi).

I eyed this on the menu and I guess T read my mind and got US Tenderloin and Foie Gras (P775/$19) from the Teppan Grilled menu.  T liked this dish.  I, on the other hand, found the meat soft but not as tender as I thought it would be.

But I do like to point out that unlike other restaurants that serve microscopic foie gras, Jozu Kin gives two generous pieces of it in this dish.

T also ordered Ushi Ebi Tempura (P375/$9.50).  We're placing this on our list of best tempuras.  It's not just all batter, the prawns are really big and fat.  It wasn't too oily and just had the right amount of crunch.

T also got an Agemono called Tori Spicy (P252/$6) which is deep fried boneless chicken in spicy sauce.  T wasn't too fond of it because it doesn't really "taste" Japanese.  But I liked it and asked for the last piece, which T willingly gave ;)

Thumbs Up!
Good food at reasonable prices.
Really good tempura.
Attentive staff.
Really good tempura (oh did I say that already?)

Thumbs Down!
Nothing really except that our US Teppan arrived before our Spider Maki.

Yes, this place deserves another visit.

  1. Good to know na affordable yung prices ng food. Will try this resto. :)

  2. well that's pretty cool. It looks like one of those Japanese Restaurants in Hollywood. But the fact that it's affordable makes it more "inviting" haha!

  3. So stunning!

Why don't we follow each other? :)

Thank you for the love!

I enjoy meeting fellow bloggers and readers from all over so feel free to comment and I'll get back to you as soon as I can :)
