Davao (part 2): Eden Nature Park & Resort - The Skyrider.

continued from part 1...

The Skyrider

After the tour, I went to the activity area. I'm an adrenaline junkie so I always seek for some sort of adventure whenever I go on a trip. I found a ride called the "Skyrider", where I would be hanging from long steel cables through a harness strapped around my body.  The fee for the ride is only P150/$4.

This isn't my first zipline though.  The first one was in Negros Occidental years back (read my blog post on Mambukal Hot Springs). But for some reason, I had butterflies in my stomach while they were putting on the harness.

After my equipment was complete, I had to climb this steel tower.  Alone.  Man, I hated this part.

Finally, I reached the top.  There were people there to tell me the safety measures and to guide me what to do but the butterflies in my stomach were still very much alive.

Check out my face. I don't look too happy!

As I began my "ride in the sky" and glided along the 200-meter zipline, my heart beat started rising. I looked down, which I know one should never do while suspended midair, and saw nothing soft that could break my fall. I started to panic and wanted to scream but I felt like I was going to disturb the balance of nature if I did.

Then in the midst of my palpitations, I looked to the right and saw sprawling hills filled with pine trees side-by- side with the serene Davao Gulf. Suddenly, all my fears vanished.

That is, until I looked forward again and saw that I was about to hit the foot of a steel tower. And that's when I screamed! A Skyrider staff pulled the brakes so I stopped in time, just a few inches away from the post.   I hurriedly asked them to remove the harness attached to my torso so I could get some fresh air.. But not before taking this photo ;)

My, my. I think this adrenaline junkie is losing her touch.  But if I had the chance to do it again, I would..  In a heartbeat!

  5. Mother! I did notice that you were just half-smiling! But for someone who was nervous, you looked very poised ;)

Oh, and isn't that the same Crocs you were wearing when we went to Pinatubo? :)
