Update (5/5/2012): My sister got me the whole set for my Kindle. Woohoo! Early birthday gift! :)
Paulo Coelho has always been my favorite author. I read his books for guidance and follow him on Twitter for daily inspirational messages. And now, he proves himself once again as he slashes the price of his bestsellers to 0.99, given the recent squabble on e-book pricing.
These titles are now 0.99 for iBooks, Kindle, and Nook (coming soon):
Eleven Minutes
The Pilgrimage
The Manual of the Warrior of Light
By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
The Zahir
Veronika Decides to Die
The Witch of Portobello
Brida
The Devil and Miss Prym
The Winner Stands Alone
The Fifth Mountain
Read more about this on Paulo Coelho's blog: "Book For The Price of a Song".

It is my (open) secret wish that pricing for ebooks will follow this trend. And I count on you to help me to propagate this post. This may create a new paradigm. As I tweeted not so long ago: “life is changed by examples, not by opinions”. -Paulo Coelho

ReplyDeleteGood thing there's kindle for pc.
ReplyDeletenice. thanks for sharing. i only read one of his book.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to get myself a Kindle, but can't seem to fully grasp the idea of reading without the smell of paper, and the physical page-turning just yet. This blog post of yours makes things more interesting though, seeing how inexpensive ebooks can actually be! I spend a lot on books, and honestly, I'm running our of shelf and floor space to keep them all in. So, what do you think, should I go get that Kindle?

MRS P CUYUGAN. Me loving books is an understatement. Like you, I don't know where to place my books. They're all over the house. The top shelves of my room upstairs are filled with books, same goes with my room downstairs & our tv room. We even have a mini library! But I decided to get a Kindle (actually T got it for me 2 years ago --> read about it here. Of course, I still prefer 'real' books over e-books but for those titles that I don't mind not owning physically, I download them from the Kindle bookstore. Sometimes I even have both the hardcopy and the softcopy of a book :) It all depends on you though. I just don't like reading using my iPad. So I won't recommend the Kindle Fire for reading. I still prefer the grey screen & black text Kindle. At least it feels closer to a real book than one with a backlit screen.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the comment....great post dear!!!!

I had a Paulo Coelho's addiction phase which includes rereading his inspiring books...but I still follow him now on twitter.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a good news. His books are best gifts for friends too. :)
Wow! I do hopt nga this continues with other publishers and authors too. I could never understand why ebooks are priced almost the same as tangible books when in fact their overhead expenses should be much lower right? I really hope ebooks will be priced a much lower rates soon! =)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Not sure if this is tru but I've heard that Archie comics have seen selling their ebooks (ecomics? Heheh!) for around that much lang din. Sana nga totoo. Hehehe! =D
