Beurre Blanc.

It's almost Happy Hearts Day everyone!  Last year, I made a list of restaurants where you can go to for Valentines.  In case you missed it, here it is:

                               The Goose Station
                               The Frazzled Cook
                               Je Suis Gourmand
                               Lusso
Felix - where we celebrated Valentines '09
The Crystal Room  - where we celebrated Valentines '10

Although these restaurants are good choices up to this day, let me add a few more to the list.  One is The Old Vine, which I recently wrote about.  Another is Beurre Blanc.

My favorite part of the restaurant: the ceiling!

"In cooking, beurre blanc — literally translated from French as "white butter"— is a rich, hot butter sauce made with a reduction of vinegar and white wine and grey shallots."

Statue near our table added to the ambiance of the place.

Beurre Blanc is a French-Mediterranean restaurant also specializing in wines and cocktails.  T and I had dinner here a few months back after watching a movie at the Newport Cinemas.

T and I had red wine as suggested by our server.

We started our dinner with Tomato and Prawns Bisque with Pesto Cream (P175/$5).  While waiting, they served newly baked bread but instead of the usual butter, they gave us a salsa-like spread.

We loved this!

We had 2-3 servings of this! Really good on bread.

For the main course, T ordered the Peppered Crusted US Sirloin Steak (P650/$16) in light Cognac Cream sauce, with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach while I got the Roasted Chilean Seabass "Beurre Blanc" (P950/$23) with green asparagus and potato ragout.   Our server suggested splitting the main courses and it was a really good idea!  Have your server do the same for you and your date, too.. Unless of course it's your 'strategy' to share food from your plate ;)

Have your server split the main courses between you and your date.

The white Cognac sauce is addicting!

For dessert, T had Creme Brulee (P120/$3) with red beets compote while I had the Sweet Souffle (P180) with frangelico and chocolate sauce.

T's Creme Brulee.

Oh by the way, for the souffle, you can choose between Mango Mascarpone, Belgian Chocolate, Orange Grand Marnier or Banana and Coffee Crunch.  Guess what I got?  Yup, Belgian Chocolate.. Chocolate forever!

The souffle.

Heavenly chocolate sauce.

As if these weren't sweet enough, T ordered Hot Chocolate while I ordered Hot Tea.   Coffee is another drink alternative to have with your dessert.

T's hot chocolate.

All in all, we really enjoyed our dining experience in Beurre Blanc.  The servers were friendly and attentive, the ambiance was great and the food was superb.  Whether for special days like Valentines or ordinary days, this restaurant is a must-visit!

Excited to eat my Belgian Chocolate souffle.
